Trust & Transparency

The Donor Bill of Rights.

Every gift to Uplift Incorporated comes with these promises. We take them seriously.

Philanthropy is built on the trust between donor and cause. Uplift Incorporated affirms that every donor — whether contributing five dollars or five thousand — has the following rights, modeled on the Donor Bill of Rights developed by AFP, AHP, CASE, and Giving Institute.

  1. To be informed of the organization's mission

You have the right to know how Uplift intends to use your gift, who we serve, and what outcomes we work to achieve.

  2. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the board

You have the right to know who governs Uplift Incorporated, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in stewarding our resources.

  3. To have access to our most recent financial statements

You have the right to review Uplift's audited financials and Form 990 upon request, and to expect financial transparency in everything we publish.

  4. To be assured your gifts will be used for the intended purpose

You have the right to direct your gift to scholarships, mentorship, charitable outreach, or general operations — and to expect us to honor that designation.

  5. To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition

You have the right to a prompt thank-you and a tax receipt for every donation, and to choose whether your gift is recognized publicly or kept anonymous.

  6. To be assured your information is handled with confidentiality

You have the right to expect that your personal information is kept private, never sold or rented, and shared only with those who must see it to process your gift.

  7. To expect that all relationships with representatives of Uplift will be professional

You have the right to be treated with respect by every Uplift volunteer, board member, and staff representative, free from undue pressure or harassment.

  8. To be informed whether those soliciting funds are volunteers or paid solicitors

Uplift is a 100% volunteer-led organization. No paid solicitors are engaged to raise funds on our behalf.

  9. To have the opportunity for your name to be deleted from mailing lists

You have the right to opt out of any future communications from Uplift Incorporated at any time, simply by asking.

  10. To feel free to ask questions and receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers

You have the right to ask any question of any Uplift representative, at any time, and to receive a candid response.

This Donor Bill of Rights is adapted from the original document created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and Giving Institute. We hold these standards as our baseline commitment to every supporter.
